Hands-On Learning and Practical Experience

The Salish Kootenai College Welding Course doesn’t stop at theoretical learning. We understand the importance of hands-on experience in welding education. From day one, you’ll have the opportunity to put your newfound knowledge into practice in a supportive and controlled environment. Our facilities and equipment provide an authentic workshop experience, allowing you to refine your skills and develop a deep understanding of the welding process. Through practical training exercises, you’ll gain the confidence and dexterity needed to tackle real-world welding challenges.

At Salish Kootenai College, we value commitment and recognize the dedication required to succeed. As a student in the welding course, you’ll receive a stipend of $100 per day for each day of full attendance, including on-time arrival. This stipend not only serves as an incentive but also acknowledges the importance of punctuality and dedication in the welding profession. We believe that rewarding your commitment helps foster a sense of pride and motivates you to give your best every day.

There are some required items to ensure your personal safety. These items include leather boots, long-sleeve shirts, coveralls, reading glasses (if needed). All other personal protective equipment and reading materials will be supplied by the welding program.

To ensure personalized attention and an optimal learning environment, we have limited the welding course to only 10 training positions. This exclusivity allows our instructors to focus on individual growth, providing tailored guidance and mentorship. Although this opportunity is available to everyone, we do prioritize enrolled members or first-generation descendants of the Confederated Salish & Kootenai Tribes, reflecting our commitment to supporting the local community and preserving cultural heritage.
