The Digital Design Technology program at SKC is the perfect choice for students who want to gain knowledge and technical skills in graphic design, web design, and multimedia fields. As a "hybrid" program, this degree offers students the opportunity to attend classes in person and participate in online activities.

The curriculum includes courses that cover all aspects of digital design, from color theory to information hierarchy and typography. Upon completion of the program, students will have the skills to successfully communicate narratives, concepts, emotions, and/or identifies across a variety of digital media. They will also have the problem-solving skills necessary to plan and implement digital design projects.

Graduates of this program have successfully attained careers in the surrounding community, creating page layouts, ads, and updating company web pages. Entry-level employment in this field can expect $12 to $20 per hour, while freelancers can earn near $25 per hour.

At the conclusion of the program, students will be able to produce a portfolio that demonstrates effective print and digital communications and user experiences through the application of theories, tools such as Adobe Create Cloud Programs, and best practices in the field.

Associate of Arts Digital Design Technology

The Digital Design Technology degree at SKC is considered a “hybrid” program - that is, while each course has set times on the schedule each term for students to meet as a class with their instructors, any and potentially all courses may additionally require online participation for some part of the schedule. Syllabi for each course contain specific information about the format of the class.

Digital Design Technology Associate of Arts Degree Curriculum

SKC graduates in Digital Design Technology have successfully attained careers in the surrounding community. Currently, graduates create page layouts, ads and update company web pages. Graduates gaining entry level employment in this field can expect $12 to $20 per hour. Other graduates have freelance positions earning near $25 per hour, completing photography, poster, and web designs. Local businesses include Total Screen Design, Charkoosta newspaper, and sign and printing businesses. Examples of job titles for graduates with a degree in Digital Design Technology include Web Designer, Graphic Designer, Photographer and Photo Editor, Digital Illustrator, and Videographer/Video Editor.

Upon completion of the Associate Degree, students will be prepared to

  • Illustrate and critique the elements and principles of visual design, color theory, information hierarchy, and typography to successfully communicate narratives, concepts, emotions, and/or identifies across a variety of digital media.
  • Demonstrate critical thinking and problem-solving skills for project planning and implementation.
  • Communicate clearly in visual, verbal, and written forms using techniques appropriate for the intended audience.
  • Perform as a team member to create collaborative decisions toward shared objectives in digital design technology.
  • Produce a portfolio that demonstrates effective print and digital communications and user experiences through the application of theories, tools such as Adobe Create Cloud Programs, and best practices in the field.
