Civic Minded: Morgan Hoff, Recipient of the George M. Dennison Civic Engagement Scholarship
Salish Kootenai College proudly recognizes Morgan Hoff, a dedicated sophomore majoring in Nursing, as a recent recipient of the George M. Dennison Civic Engagement Scholarship. Established in 2004, this scholarship pays tribute to the legacy of George M. Dennison by acknowledging students who exemplify outstanding commitment to civic engagement and community service.
Morgan’s journey in civic engagement reflects a deep commitment to making a positive impact on her community. Growing up in a family of mentors, Morgan learned early on about the value of helping others. “For my entire life, my family has been great mentors, showing the benefits of helping others,” she shares.
From volunteering at the cemetery to participating in environmental protests at the state capitol during high school, Morgan has actively embraced the principle of being the change she wishes to see in the world. “I was told from a young age to be the change I wish to see in the world,” she says, emphasizing the importance of courage in standing up for one’s beliefs.
Morgan’s passion for making a difference has significantly influenced her chosen career path. As she pursues a degree in Nursing, she envisions a future where she can help individuals in times of loss and progress. “Absolutely, my passion for making a difference influenced my career path. I cannot imagine a job where I do not get to help people in a time of loss or progress,” she states.
Discovering the George M. Dennison Civic Engagement Scholarship through the Reach Higher Montana website, Morgan appreciates the support provided by the scholarship, which aligns with her aspirations and values. Looking ahead, Morgan shares her goals for making a positive impact in her community. In two years, she aims to be better educated on health, while her 10-year plan involves becoming a diabetic nurse educator.
Expressing her heartfelt vision for her small town, Morgan Hoff sums up her vision of the future, “I aspire to witness a community where hungry children no longer wander the streets in fear, and where the older generations actively teach the younger ones valuable lessons, fostering close and meaningful relationships.”
