Depending on your program, you will learn in-depth computer skills, terminology, law, and ethics that can be used in any work environment. Choose from AA Grant Project Management, CC Office Professional, CC Medical Office Professional, CC Grant Project Assistant, and 3 Workforce Development Certifications.

AA Grant Management

The Grant  Management Associate of Arts program at SKC is designed to provide students with the knowledge and skills required to manage grants and projects effectively. The program focuses on the development of core competencies such as budgeting, risk management, project planning, and proposal writing. Graduates of the program are equipped to pursue a career in grant and project management across various industries, including non-profit organizations, government agencies, and private enterprises.

Grant Management AA Curriculum

Over $35 billion in grant and contract funding is distributed in the United States every year.  Many tribal, public, and non-profit entities operate with numerous grants and contracts. Students completing the Associate of Arts degree will have the knowledge and technical skills needed to perform accounting functions and analyze grant financial statements, administer grants in compliance with codes and regulations, and work in positions to manage grants in tribal, nongovernmental, or private settings.

  • Follow uniform administration requirements necessary for grant management.
  • Administer codes and regulations as they affect grant management.
  • Analyze financial statements and accounting functions as they relate to grants.
  • Identify risk management and appropriation laws. 
  • Examine ethical considerations when managing grants.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of laws and regulations related to management of contracts and grants. 
  • Gain practical experience with grant management through a supervised practicum.

There are no special requirements or prerequisites to start working towards this degree program. SKC does require students to complete a writing and math assessment in order to get them started in the correct English and Math courses.

CC Medical Office Professional

The Medical Office Professional program at SKC is designed to provide students with the necessary skills and knowledge required to work in a medical office environment. The curriculum covers various aspects such as medical terminology, patient scheduling, billing and coding, and electronic health records management. Graduates of the program are equipped to work in various medical office settings, including hospitals, clinics, and private practices.

Medical Office Professional CC Curriculum

Students completing the Medical Office Professional Certificate will qualify for office positions in healthcare facilities including hospitals, tribal health facilities, health clinics, etc. According to the Montana Department of Labor and Industry, for Healthcare Support Occupations the current average salary in Montana is $30,720.

  • Demonstrate knowledge of basic medical office skills, including scheduling appointments, patient billing, procedural and diagnostic coding, patients accounts, and banking procedures.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of basic office skills, including record management, creating business messages, writing meeting minutes, and operating a 10-key calculator.
  • Define medical terms and identify body systems and functions.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the ethical/legal aspects of medical office employment.
  • Manage the registration process for patient registration in an electronic medical record via an online simulation.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of health insurance to assist in the patient registration process.
  • Create and maintain spreadsheets, presentations, and word processing documents commonly used in businesses.
  • Discuss considerations for Native American/Alaska Native populations in the workplace.

CC Office Professional

The Office Professional Certificate of Completion program at SKC aims to equip students with essential office administration skills and knowledge. The program covers various topics such as business communication, office software applications, records management, and customer service. Graduates of the program are prepared for entry-level positions in office administration across various industries, including healthcare, education, and government agencies.

Office Professional CC Curriculum

Students who complete the Office Professional Certificate of Completion will be prepared for employment in entry-level general office, entry-level payroll, accounting, and/or bookkeeping positions. According to the Montana Department of Labor and Industry, for Office and Administrative Support Occupations the current average salary in Montana is $34,990, $39,560 for Payroll and Timekeeping Clerks, and $36,310 for Bookkeeping, Accounting, and Auditing Clerks.

  • Demonstrate knowledge of basic office skills, including record management, creating business messages, writing meeting minutes, and operating a 10-key calculator.
  • Exhibit competency in basic office skills and professionalism in a practicum setting.
  • Demonstrate appropriate workplace relationships and communication skills.
